How to fix a car stereo?

I recently bought a used car. The radio works fine, but every time I put a disc in the CD player it says no disc and won't play. As far as I know it worked before I bought it, but it hasn't worked for me at all. Any suggestions?
 
You could try a disc player cleaner. They clean the eye that reads the info from the laser. If the eye is dirty, it will not be able to 'see' a disc in the player.
