My motor is a 5.2 liter. The noise comes from the belt and pulley area, almost like a grinding and whinning. If I pour water on the belt, the noise stops for a minute. The belt seems to be in good shape. I replaced the water pump, and the idler tentioner pulley. The ac compressor works. I can't seem to find where the noise is coming from. How can I find out ? I'm a do it myself kind of guy.

Thanks People

using extreme caution and a long screw driver place it on the body of the alternator and other components that the belt rides on, and listen (put your ear close to the screwdriver) . when you find the loudest one that should be the problem one. USE WITH CAUTION DON'T PUT IT IN MOVING PARTS. sometimes it is just the belt. use goodyear or gates belts. make sure all of your pulley are in alignment with a straight edge

kind of the way you did it but used a spray of some sort spray not the belt but the parts that are moving one at time should find it
