How to find the previous owners of my car?

I bought a 1961 Vw bug and I would really like to find out who previously drove it. Can you go to the DMV and pay them to look it up? The place I bought it from buys and sells old Vw's so they didn't know much on who owned it. Thank you very much, Tyler

Car dealers - new and used - are required by law to keep the personal information of previous vehicle owners confidential. Many won't even pass on a note or letter from you seeking contact with the previous owner, even though the dealer has the information on file.

go to the place you got the car and ask for the car fax they will tell you who owned it and if it was damaged!
