How to find the highest point of elevation in a given area?

Could I use google maps/earth to find the highest point of elevation in a give area (IE: Zip Code, or State).

See the contour (relief) map of that country. Normally the contours ring around the highest point in concentric (non-intersecting) loops.

In the UK I would use the on-line maps from "Ordinance survey" - not sure if there is an equivalent for you though.
