How to explain to customers a new fee, help with wording?

I recently posted a question about how to explain to customers that I would like to start charging $2 for information booklets that I previous gave for free, I teach hobby courses at various venues. I spend hours on each handout. So any way after reading the answers to my last question, I have decided to charge $2 each person for the handout, the handouts are optional and only really needed for home to remake what we did in class. I need help with the wording to explain in a nice way the new fee. I'm thinking of putting it in a newsletter that I send out to customer. I just want them to understand why I have to do it.
