I have had a number of mobile phone contracts with various UK networks, so I am familiar with the procedures around them. When you have exactly 30 days to go to the end of the contract, give Vodafone a ring from your mobile and tell them you wish to give notice to cancel your contract with them. From there, you have two options: you can ask for your PAC code (Port Authorisation Code) which allows you to take your number to a new network. The other option is that you ask them to switch your number to PAYG, and keep it with Vodafone. It is your choice which you decide to do. However, if you do take the PAC code, then make sure you use it and switch your number to a different network. otherwise Vodafone will simply carry on your contract on a month to month basis. While you are in your notice period, be aware that the retentions team will constantly ring you with special offers for you to stay with them as a customer. Again, the choice is yours whether or not you stay with them, but be aware that it would entail another contract of 12, 18 or 24 months, depending on the options chosen. I hope this helps, but please don't hesitate to contact me if you need further advice or clarification on anything.
