How to dye black hair brown?

I have naturally dark-ish brown hair. Dyed it black a few weeks ago, but did it with a permanent dye by accident. Didn't realise it was permanent until after I had put it on (always read the box!).
I was sick of the black, so I decided to use a decolourant on my hair to lighten the shade back to my original brown.
I used Colour B4. Hair colour remover extra strength by Scott Cornwall hair expert. Application for 55mins (guidelines say 30mins for normal, and 60mins for darker shades).
When I washed it off, most of my hair was back to its original colour! Fabulous! But I put a little too much at the root, and the top of my head has a slight ginger/auburn shine to it. It does not look bad, I quite like it, like a reddish/golden shimmer.
If I wanted to, with this product, I could have re-dyed my hair my desired colour straight away after using the decolourant, but I think I will leave it how it is for a while, and then maybe re-dye it in a few weeks.
Would definitely recommend using this decolourant. Surprising how accurately it changed your hair back to its original colour.
