How to draw ray diagrams in optics?

I mean, my physics teacher doesn't explain it that well. I know how to draw a basic diagram for concave and convex lens, but then in some questions the object is placed in different locations and when I see the answer for it, i get lost. I mean is there any way to figure out how o draw them in different scenarios? Thank you
