How to download tv shows onto the ipod touch on itunes?

Ok, so for my birthday I got an itunes gift certificate, I immediately redeemed the gift certificated and I downloaded a few television shows. They finished downloading, but they are only on itunes, not on my ipod touch. How can I get them on my ipod?? Btw my ipod is 2nd generation :P
