Backstory - nothing touching or sappy

beginning of september I feel on my head from about 7 to 8 feet. Had as stinger, back/neck muscles locked up and I broke 2 teeth.

I got to the ER get taken car of, MRI, cat scan, xray, yada yada, the injury is then classified as a stinger and i'm there for observation.

in the morning a nuerodouche comes in and says i'm here for a consultation - he gives me his card and moves my limbs around and leaves(cliffnotes, he was there for 5 minutes).

Well 1.5months later I get a bill from his office for 1112$ adjusted down to 312(after insurance).

Is there any way to dispute this - even if just getting the bill total reduced.

He was referring to my be the overseeing physician while I was at the hospital.

Let me know if you require any other information.

Thanks.

Check with your insurance company. Sometimes the docs sign an agreement not to charge the patient for anything over what they've agreed to take from the insurance company. I've had them try to bill me before so I always check withmy insurance company first.

From what i'm told the 300 is what htey would charge the insurance company. Had the dr actually done something i would completely see the purpose of paying, but considering the limb "tests" that her performed were done previously by other dr's while I was in ER, I don't see the need for it - and honestly I'm not going to pay it.

Not paying it isn't the answer they will simply turn you into a collection agency and ruin your credit. Call the neuro's office and ask them to send you the written report of the findings from the hands on look see. Read your report and see if it is worth the money...believe me a specialist is going to charge big time for a consult however the hospital or doctor in charge of your case should of advised you this was a separate charge. So if no one told you then I would also call the hospital complaint department and complain about that. The last thing is you can negotiate a different price with the Neuro's office. Speak to the office manager and tell them you don't have that kind of money and what will they take to settle this...explain that you weren't aware this was going to be a separate charge and you had no idea what or who this person was nor did they tell you there would be a seperate bill and had you known you would of said no thank you. (avoid the neurodouche term) be nice and be sincere...remember the person you are talking to didn't do anything wrong they are just the paid help but they are the ones that can help you...don't go into any of this with anger...amazing how much honey will get you what you want and what you want is for this bill to go away ...it will not go away but you can sweet talk a lower price. Not always but maybe. Good luck

You could get an intemized statement and then talk with your insurance company re whether all the functions were performed or not and how much they would pay based
on that. It seems you are disputing what was actually done re what was billed. But f the bill is valid, then $300 for a bill of $1000 - so to speak - would seem reasonable.
