My husband has just discovered that he is an Athiest, and he is so glad about it. I am not necessarily a "religious" person, but I've read the Bible, still believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and believe in a higher power..God. I am accepting of other people's points of view, and don't feel the need to make anyone believe what I believe. My husband keeps bringing up that people who believe in God are mentally weak, because it logically doesn't make sense. There is no proof of any such higher power...i've told him that I can accept that he has a different point of view, and still respect him, but he needs to respect that I do believe in God. He says it's hard to do. He wants me to be able to tell him why I believe the way I do, with logical words. I'm not able to explain why I feel the way I do, because my belief system involves faith, intense feelings, and things that he doesn't consider valid. I'm starting to hate talking to him about this....
he brings it up all the time, he says that we'll never agree. It's starting to take a toll on our relationship. I'm not sure what to do because we have a daughter. Please don't bash because when we were first together we knew we had different points of view, but we were accepting of them, and he wasn't this hard core. I just need advice on how to eloquently explain that a higher power is a valid belief system.
