Firstly, this is the question I'm given.
The 1.0 kg mass and spring scale are being lifted so tat the 1.0 kg mass is being accelerated in the positive upward direction at 1.0 m/s^2. What is the net force acting on the mass?

I chose +1 N out of the following choices}
a. 0 N
b. +1 N
c. -1 N
d. +20 N
Is this correct? How is the answer determined.

Lastly, if the scale is accidentally dropped, the net force acting on the 1.o kg mass
is the opposite of the answer above, correct?
