I have a steel beam on top of the masonry column with the dimensions of 0.2 x 0.22 x 2.6. I am suppose to design a foundation and find out the width and depth of it.The Allowable Bearing Pressure is assumed 200 kN/m2.
I calculated the self weight of the column which is 238kN/m. There is a reaction force of 145.8 kN at the foundation. The units are different. How am i suppose to consider both of them to get the dimensions of the foundation? Is there any way to convert the reaction force to kN/m.
