How to deal with such kind of hassle?

I rented a DVD from video rental, and after hour I returned into self-return slot, but two-week later, I got email I needn’t return, my late fee reach maximum( new DVD plus administrative fee), I went to the store and ask the surveillant video, they said the didn’t have. How to contest it?
