How to Deal with Rogers Retention Dept.

Well i have used both the 8900 and iphone, i am using the Bold and Iphone right now. I love all 3 devices. The iphone for me is more of a fun phone. I need a blackberry for work. So thats why i have both phones. But i do recommend the Iphone, but also love the 8900 because it very small and hes a great camera. I see your using the bold, but also the 8900 doesnt have 3G so if your needing the speed of the 3G i would go with the Iphone. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your feedback. I have an iPhone 3gs on order from Rogers (they are backordered) Retentions have given me unlimited data for 6 months, then at the end will see how much I have been using and figure it out than. Retentions have been very helpful. Hope the iPhone comes soon, Rogers don't know when?

Your welcome, i hard there back order thought out the country not sure when there getting more in either. I am just going to wait for a bite the iphone 3g is good enough for me cause its my second line. one day i will switch haha.

Hey guys,

I currently have a blackberry with Rogers, which i am fine with, but i have a regular phone with Bell. I wish to switch my bell phone over to a Rogers phone. By this i mean just the number not the actual phone. I was wondering how i would go about doing that with the Retention Dept. Do i just tell them i have a secondary phone with Bell and i want to switch over and ask what they can offer me? If not how should i approach them?

Thanks in advance,

hi guys,

my contract expired in march 2008 and after being extremely lazy I finally called rogers retention line this thursday and got this:

- 500 minutes
- free after 5 pm + weekends
- free incoming
- rogers to rogers
- unlimited sms, mms
- caller id, enhanced vmail
- 6 GB data plan

$51+change (including SAF).

also, I got a blackberry bold (which I picked up from best buy the next day) for $225 after $50 rebate AND $20 credit for the first 3 months. I really wanted the 8900 due to its size, design, and better camera but I got the bold simply because of lack of 3G and mini usb port compared to the micro for the 8900.

what do you guys think?

Pagal - Can I ask how you negotiated this plan? I am with Fido right now, but want to switch to Rogers and get either the BB 8900 or the iPhoine 3Gs and would like a similar plan as you. $51 for all that sounds amazing.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

truthfully, I didn't say much at all. I simply said that I was interested in renewing (I wasn't on contract since March 2008) but Bell is offering me a much better plan (ad from newspaper) and if they could match it...

I guess I got lucky because the guy I spoke to was extremely polite and helpful. He did mention that I was I've been in tier 5 from over 2 years, so may be that helped.

I believe you can get this kind of plan through retentions only, and since you are currently with fido I'm not sure if it will work for you...not too sure though.

no sir! its on till august 2012...checked it myself on my rogers online account.

thanks pagal!

has anyone had any luck getting a good plan when switching from fido to rogers? even though they're the same company .. i don't like fido, and want to switch back to rogers. however, since i'm not a rogers customer, im afraid i don't have much leverage to negotiate a good plan.

any suggestions would be grealty appreciated!

Hi There,

I have been reading your posts for quite a while now, I even tried calling in retentions and tried to get a plan like yours, but the best they would do was offer it to me for $42.15 including taxes and the fees. Can you help me.. what should I say to them?

Does anyone know the Retentions Number for Rogers. I called 1-888-936-7283 and that does not seem to be the number any more. It just takes you to a main Rogers line. The person on the other end, says Customer Relations do not have a direct number anymore. Can anyone confirm?

the retention dept's number does change from time to time and the reason behind that is because some people put it up on the internet lol.
I will try and see if i can squeeze out the new one

Hi,

I'm new here. I've been with Rogers since august 2005. Back then I had the Megaminutes 25 plan which supposedly had unlimited incoming and free R2R. After the free 6months everything unlimited, I realized I did not have free R2R.
Here is basically my plan:

25$
100min+50min bonus+25min bonus (student)
Unlimited incoming
100min LD
2000min call forward
Evenings and Weekends 1000min 8pm-7am (i think it's 7am)
PLUS: 15$ value pack with
- 1000sms+free incom. txt.
- VM & CID
- Unlimited on-device browsing
MINUS 5$ credit
PLUS6.95
PLUS0.5
PLUS Tx
---------------
= 47.9$

I never asked for an upgrade since 2005. I know I am stupid, but I loved my former SE K790a, but got it to break in the cineam, and bought an Iphone 2G on the cheap so I have free internet included (but that's not the point here!

______________

So here is what I would like to get:
Basically keeping the same plan
+more minutes (perhaps 200 more)
+early evenings at 6
+MY5 Local or canada (just for calling, that's good enough)
(+ if possible a 150mb or more of data, thus I'd get the new Iphone)

______________

I have three questions basically:

1. So what strategy to adopt? I saw people here getting more or less this kind of plan for about 50$. But I don't think that i can call retention and basically tell them, I want to pay the same, but throw those 3 or 4 addons please.

Perhaps I should try the Bell Corporate plan for 22$ (250 minutes, free from 6pm,free incoming, incoming free, unlimited text, caller id,voicemail,ld 8 cents within canada) and tell them I was offered that? Then what do you say: "I called bell and told them I was thinking about switching from Rogers and they offered me this plan"?

2. Do you think that in Ontario, because of Wind Mobile, Rogers is sweeter than here in Qu
