Is it 2 stroke ? If it is you may just have a blocked pipe

Two down falls of what you want to do
1. cutting the pipe or taking out baffles will reduce compression which bike rely on as back pressure.
2. Opening the air ,i presume to let more air flow ?
all this will do is make the engine run way to lean which will burn a hole in the piston unless you change the jet size to add more fuel to compensate

Cutting the exhaust typically entails cutting the tail pipe out of the muffler with a hole saw, and welding a new end cap in place that has a bigger exit pipe. Another common dodge is to drill holes in the end of the muffler in a circle around the tail pipe.

The simplest way to open up your air box is to remove the air box door. You can also buy round plugs about an inch in diameter that have holes backed with foam. Drill holes to fit the plugs in the air box door. The plugs will help keep dirt out of the air box, while allowing more air to pass

You may have to jet richer to take full advantage of the increase in air flow. Go to ThumperTalk.com or one of the marque-specific forums for details.

Hey guys, i am having a bit of a power issue with my new suzuki drz 250
I have done some reading and the biggest and cheapest option is to cut open my exhaust and open up my air box??

That all makes sense.. but how exactly do i do that?... can anyone explain in detail what needs to be done? Thanks!
4 stroke, "so what" Thank you for letting me know about the risks, but how about a 'how to do it'
