how to create a local web application in php?

I want to create a better web based application for local usage using php with mysql (or any other) and want to hide php source in that system.

I think need a server to run this. So how can i create the application. I know PHP, HTML, Javascript, Ajax and MySql very well
like google desktop search view in browser. and also want to hide my php script in local machine
