How to correct file system error? Format during startup?

I have vista installed on my computer.Once i selectd the startup repair from the installation cd instead of selecting the command prompt(I was trying to remove the xp option from the multi os list;i already formatted the disk that contained xp). Usually the starup repair finishes within a few minutes, but this time even after 1 n half hour it was still running. So i shut it down forcefully.After that incident windows is not loading. Just the "microsoft corporation" appears n later d screen goes blank. I tried reinstalling Vista but the screen hangs after i press "install now". Even memory diagnostic tool, system restore n startup repair is not working. System restore says that the hard disk file system is corrupted. It gives me an option 2 check d error but that hangs as well.....:-( Is there any other way tat help me.... pls suggest me
