I am looking for a basic gravy recipe. I don't have ''drippings'' just the basic flour or cornstarch, cooking oil, and water

If you have butter that would be much better, but oil will work.

Everyday gravies:

Make a roux of equal parts butter and flour. Let the roux bubble and cook for just around 2-3 min. Then add some bullion/base, loose-granuals-or cube (beef, chicken, pork, veggie etc...). Alternatley add warm or hot water and evaporated milk. Whisk well and let the gravy thicken a bit between each addition.

Then season to taste. I like to add salt, seasoned salt, white pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder .
And sausage gravy expcept brown the sausage and remove the sausage and save the drippings (adding more butter if neccesary). Then add the flour, milk and just plain water. Add the sausage back in and season with a tiny it of salt and some black pepper.
