how to convert tiff file to text file?

Hi J.arosh from tuticorin.And i want to convert tiff("which is in the text format") to txt format.But i copy the tiff file and paste the file into notepad but the file is changed into symbols and something...So please give the details of how to convert the tiff file to text file.........
