I will be switching Dr's since my current one doesn't listen. Wasting my time...
Anyhow, I have allot of inflammation. It's my understanding that's why I hurt so much. The current Dr doesn't communicate very well...
So, it's really hard to live a somewhat normal life, when you hurt. Well, you all know that :)

I'm not one to take any medications or pills in general unless absolutely needed...
I'm taking Gabapentin 300mg (Neurontin). It helps with the Anxiety & Depression... Along with my Insomnia. Nothing for pain though.
I have some Naproxen 500mg (Naprosyn). But doesn't do anything for me so don't take it... Course, I've only tried it twice... Maybe not enough? It's supposed to help with the inflammation.
I also have some Tramadol 50mg (Ultram). It does seem to nurab the pain some, but I have to be careful because it has made me very sick. I don't do well on Narcotic meRAB... Plus, I try not to take it unless I am just miserable... I've taken it twice now. Once was to get through School Supply & Clothes Shopping...

Anyhow, I always have inflammation. I have my good days where I'm not in to much pain, & my bad days where I just plain out hurt. I have way more bad days... I'd say there is just a few good days in a month, if I'm lucky.

I've always had a high pain tolerance, but that constant pain really gets to a person... When I broke my wrist is 2 places & shattered a bone, I didn't go to the hospital till the next day. When I originally hurt my back, I was laid up for 2 days & light duty at work before I lost my job. Took nothing for the pain. When I went through Labor this last time, I was in Labor for 38 hours with contractions a min apart. I had a terrible Bladder infection... Out of 4 days, I had 3 hrs of sleep. My point, I think I'm pretty tough :) But this is ridiculous! The constant pain, being limited when trying to get stuff done, ect.

Since my Dr is no help I did some reading & figure it's the inflammation causing so much pain. I do use a heating pad daily which helps. What else can I do? I'm going to schedule an appt with a Orthopedic Spine Specialist (Thank You Carol for the excellent help as always!).

It's good you are going to see a rheumy as he will best be able to pinpoint your pain as far as the soreness and achiness. For now the only thing I can think of right off the top of my head is ibuprofen if you are able to take it. If you do have fibro, I'd bet he will put you on Lyrica. It will help with the inflammation as it is the only drug approved for treatment of fibro.

You sound a lot like me as far as tolerance for pain is concerned; at least, I used to be that way. I'm thinking that with so many years of chronic pain, I have become sensitized to it and don't have the tolerance I once did. I think that's both mental and physical.....you get so very tired of the pain and it just wears you out. That could be why you have so little energy as fighting pain takes a lot out of a person.

Sometimes using ice packs is more helpful than a heating pad if you can pinpoint a particular area....helps with inflammation more.

I'm glad I've been helpful in the past but I don't think I can offer much to you today....just prayers that you can get the help you need.

Carol

Carol, you are always a huge help & great support! Thank You :)
I think your right :) I always said "Pain is in the mind, mind over body". However, I just can't say that anymore... It does seem to wear you down physically & mentally... When I worked that job I knew I wasn't made for... Allot of heavy lifting... But, mind over body. I pay for it now...
I have Thyroid probs, intolerance to cold... When I get cold, it's bone chilling & takes me forever to warm up. It's not uncommon for me to be in 80 degree weather with a sweatshirt on. People think I'm nuts! lol
The Neurontin is like the Lyrica but not addictive like it... Just doens't help with pain so may have to switch...

Thank You :)

There is something out called bioi-freeze. You can get it from chiros- OR the drug stores have something that is like it. It's gel that you rub/roll over the sore areas and it works on that spot. It's sort of like ben gay but a current version that works better.

You didn't say where the inflamation is in your body. I'm glad Neurontin helps, it's a seizure med that works on nerve pain-much like Lyrica and also Topomax. Each of them comes with their own side effects. I gained 18 lbs in three months with Lyrica. Got off of that fast.

I hope you find a good doctor that will get you through this.

Check online for an anti inflammatory diet. I try to follow it (notice try), and many fibromyalgia board merabers swear by it. I have never completely gotten my pain under control since my accident 5 years ago in my neck and upper back in large part to inflammation issues. I take a LOT of meRAB for a variety of bone, muscle and soft tissue issues as well as other "stuff" that has messed up with my body, and despite two anti-inflammatories and trying to monitor my diet, I still suffer from it! Good luck to you!

Mimgregg is right about diet and inflammation.
There is a good lecture on Y??tube about it
you can find it by searching on "pain and inflammation lecture"
at Y??tube.
