How to connect laptop to flat screen TV?

Hi! I have a Gateway M255-E and I want to connect to my LG flat screen TV so that I can display the screen on the TV, use my USB-attachable mouse, and type using my wireless keyboard. I have no idea where to begin. Is this even possible? I also have an XBOX 360, if that helps. Thank you so much for your help!
 
for your tv- does your laptop have a vga input, if it does go to best buy and ask for one you connect to your tv with it. get a male to male. only if your tv has a vga input also. walmart dosent have vga cables. nice laptop.
 
Ok your are going to need a Vga cable to go to the tv from your laptop (like the thing that connects the monitor on a desktop). Then you plug that in ( there should be a VGA in on the tv. Then you plug in your usb mouse, then plug in your wireless keyboard sensor and put the batteries in the keyboard. and then you are set
