How to connect external hard drives to my TV so I can play movies?

Do you need a USB port o your TV? I have a USB port, my TV is a Samsung LED TV. If it is possible, what external hard drives do you recommend? thanks!
 
Yes you do need usb on your tv. if you dont have one try sumvision usb/sd player on www zoombits for aroud £16-17 fantastic i have 2 and they work on either hdmi or av/video component and comes with av cable.

I don't know of a TV that is able to read from an External Hard drive. I know most TV's can read from some SD Memory Card. But not really made to read from hard drives.
