I have two rescue dogs. Shiloh a 2 and half year old Beagle and Diesel a 10 month of Staffie.
Even though they are both lvoely dogs and generally get on well, they often fight and I need to resolve this problem.
Beagle we had first and try and treat him as top dog. We feed him first, pet him first, walk him first.
Diesel is very happy and excited dog (still pup) so he jumps up when we get home and i try and push him down (at 23kg he is big) and when we do pet Shiloh he always try to push in. I do push him away and try and ignor him but it can be difficult.
It has got to the point now that they have both started fights with each other and caused damage. I can't say it's just one of them starting as they seem to take it in turns.
I need to be more assertive of the situation but I am worried now when they fight. My husband says they feed off my energy but again it seems very difficult to control.
Please if anyone has any recommendations on books or tips please let me know. I think we'll need to take them training but that hasn't worked well before as they're too excited by the other dogs to concentrate.
