How to color, shade, ect. with regular colored pencils? Tips?

[Excuse me...]

I want to color my art using colored pencils. And I don't mean fancy, expensive crap- I just want regular Crayola and whatnot.

SO HOW can I get that smooth, seemless, airbrushed, perfect look with them? Tips? Tutorials? Anything?
