How to Change the Gas tank on a Harley-Davidson 2006 Soft Tail Standard?

I have just Purchesed new Tin for my 06 Soft tail Std. I do not have a Service manual.I would like info for changing the old Tin with the New Tin of a Differant Color.Thank you all in advance
 
on most cruiser tanks there are 2 attach points to the frame, one at the front, near the forks, and one under the seat. Remove the seat unbolt the bolts holding it in place, and gently tilt the tank back until you can see the electrical line for the fuel gauge. Remove the gauge line. If fuel injected, remove the crimped clamp and the fuel line, inaddition to the overflow lines. If carbureated, switch the fuel valve to off and remove the line (going to the carbs) from below the valve. Gently lift off. Congrats, you are ready to reconnect your new tin.
 
Firecracker is correct.I'll just add that once the tank is off you'll have to remove the screws holding the plate with the fuel pump and filter.Be careful removing the pump assembly or you'll bend the gauge sending unit.The you have to cut the clamp holding the fuel line to the tank fitting and remove the fuel line from the pump.If your smart you'll replace the filter and the convoluted fuel line while you have the pump housing out.Also make sure you use a new gasket on the plate assembly.The fuel filter is about 40 dollars but it comes with the new convoluted fuel line and the clamps.The plate seal is about 10 dollars.And get a service manual.You save yourself a lot of grief.
