SPAZZING OUT!

I just got some new earbuds for my iPod, and the box says that you can change the colors of the caps by popping them off and replacing them with different ones. But when I tried to take off the caps, they didn't come off. I didn't want to break them, so I stopped trying to pull them off. If someone could let me know how to change the caps on these earbuds that would be great. Thanks
