how to change default picture storage

OK I have looked all over this phone for a way to change my camera settings from storing the pictures on the internal memory to the SD card by default.

also how can i move the existing pictures to the sd card. I cannot seem to get them to move.

How can I do this? Should be fairly simple but I cannot find it.

I have done so many searches and 0 hits on this. isnt this possible? This is a basic function... Backing up pictures or keeping storing them on an sd card.
 
ok i think i figured this out. they do save to sd card by default but not in my pictures folder. they saved to a DCM / camera folder

i still need to figure out how to save them to my pictures by default
 
"My pictures"? are you sure its not a folder you made on the sdcard named that or it came preloaded with? By default MOST camera phones and cameras make the DCIM folder. This is the standard for pictures.

In any case, the default camera app does not let you specify where the pictures you take are saved. In the market there is an app called Snap Photo Pro, aside from greatly improving your picture quality and giving you tons of new options, it also lets you define save folders. So you can directly save to any folder on sdcard when you take pictures.

Give that a go. I highly recommend it.

DCIM has been a (stolen from this wikipedia page) "design rule for Camera File system (DCF) is a JEITA specification (number CP-3461) which defines a file format and file system for digital cameras, including the directory structure, file naming method, character set, file format, and metadata format. It is currently the de facto industry standard for digital still cameras. The file format of DCF is based on the Exif 2.2 specification. [...] The root directory in a digital camera contains a DCIM (Digital Camera Images) directory"

So - DCIM is where the phone will store the pictures, or in a subdirectory thereof. You can't change it in the default Android camera app. This is correct behaviour, and any app that allows you to change it breaks the specification, although I doubt anyone really cares, and people probably find it useful.
 
I just paid for and installed it based on a few of the "set your desired default folder" comments. However, that's not entirely true. It will let you save your pictures in any folder that is a subfolder of its default of /sdcard/SnapPhoto. So, for an example, you can't make it save pictures to the /sdcard/dropbox/Photos folder.
