how to bunnyhop on a bmx bike?

so i've tried and tried to do the bunnyhop the way its shows you on almost all the videos on youtube and cant do it and im thinking you can do it by jumping off the pedals and pulling up on the handlebars toward you but its raining and cant try it so i would like to know how to so i can practice when its dry im thinking about trying flatland and getting a flatland bike cause i can do the simple tricks of flatland but still need help with bunny hops and then i may consider just getting a street/park bike
