I have a blogger account. Ive found a few blogs out there that Id like to use as a template for my own blog.
So Ive right clicked thier blog and selected 'view source' to get the HTML code. There. Now to put it into my HTML editing section under layouts, then my blog will look like thiers and then I can edit it for my content. Should do it right? Wrong.
Ive gone to my blogger account and selected layout and then selected HTML coding and cut and pasted the other website HTML code into my own blog HTML section under layout and the result is errors. Blogger cant read it, says its sparsed incorrectly.
Ive looked at it, and it seems that blogger doesnt take HTML, it uses its own code. XML or some blogger code. Ive even looked at my own site and right clicked it and selected 'view source'. That HTML code from my own site doesnt match what blogger shows in my HTML layout section. Both codes look different.
Ive even converted the HTML code to XML. Blogger still wont take it.
I then resorted to some tricks Ive learned from the net.
1. I went to my dashboard section
2. Went to layouts
3. Selected edit HTML
4. Clicked on show widget code box
5. Clicked on 'Revert to Classic Template'
Now I was able to cut and paste the other blogs HTML code into that coding box on blogger that is now on the screen. Then I hit save changes to template.
Now I was able to see the other guys blog on my website when I went to my blog. The problem NOW was when I would go to my dashboard and attempt to add a new posting of my new original content, I would do so and hit the 'publish' button to my blog.
BUT when I would go back to my blog as seen on the internet, my new post would not show up. It still looked just like the other guy's blog I right clicked and pasted into my HTML section under the layout section on my dashboard.
So what Im saying is I sucessfully pulled of the taking the other guys HTML code and putting into the HTML code of my layout section under blogger but it is not functional. I cant update new posts onto it. Its almost like a snapshot of the other guys blog.
Further more, the layout button in my blogger dashboard still says 'Template'
Its almost as if the other guys blog is not imported truely into my blogger account so its not functional.
Help. My question condensed: how to I import another blog template from another guys blog that I found that is written in HTML into my own blogger account that is not accepting the HTML?
So that I can have a great looking blogger site that is funtional and updateable with posts and my adsense account?
