I have a friend who got married a year before me and has been trying to have a baby for a year. She's in her thirties and it's been difficult for her. She has an appointment next week to determine what's going on with her body.
My dilemma is this: I got married this past June, got pregnant a few weeks later and am now in my 10th week. My husband and I will tell our friends this weekend after my OB/GYN appointment and I am nervous about telling her. She complains often about people who haven't tried to get pregnant getting pregnant unintentionally. I can't say that I was in that position at all, but I certainly wasn't competing with her or anyone else! She's my best friend and I need to find a delicate way of telling her the news by keeping her feelings and what she is going through in mind. I definitely don't want to come across as insensitive. Any advice on what I should say?

I actually somewhat had this happen to me. My husband and I had been trying for a little while, and then a friend popped over (who knew the situation) and struggled over telling me that she was 7 weeks pregnant at the time. I was happy for her, I truly was, but I was also really jealous at the fact because they had been trying to Not get pregnant. Well, shortly after that my husband and I got pregnant. Now she is around 13 weeks and I am 6 1/2 weeks.

Just do it one on one, she'll be happy for you, but it'll also be heartbreaking for her too.

Definitely tell her just you and her...tell you that you are afraid to tell her BC you don't want to hurt her. If she is a true friend she will be happy for you. Yeah, she may be a little hurt, but it isn't your fault. As long as you don't rub it in her face you are fine! :) Good luk and congrats!

Just be honest with her. If she is your true friend she will be happy for you. Yes she will be bumbed because it hasn't happened to her yet. But I believe she will know she can't control the things that happen and niether can you. Just don't leave her out because you think she may be jealous, invite her to parties you have, or even maybe to one of your appointments that your husband can't make it to. I think she may like that.
