How to block someone from texting you from alltel phone?

Ok I know you put 8888 in the message box followed by a space then the number.. but what if the person still can txt u.. what should I do? or what I'm I doing wrong.
 
my roommate wanted to get someone blocked from sending her texts so she went to the people she has her phone through, i dont remember who, and they blocked the number for her. however they didnt tell her that after like 90 days they unblocked the number and she got all the text the guy had been sending her so you may want to make sure they keep the number permently blocked.
