How to: BlackBerry to Cricket 8830 or any other BB

Hi, i'm trying to flash a 8830 From sprint, i read and changed the spc to 0's, but when i try in QXDM to go in offline -d it says phone wont respond, and if i try to load prl through qpst it givems me a NV_READONLY error, any help would be greatly appreciated

as far as changing reg id, qxdm is the way to do it.
Have you gotten QXDM to see your blackberry?
If so, you need to find the correct commands for the version of qxdm that you have.
Im not at the office rt now but I remember *there is a thread on here*.
It is not that complicated, its just a matter of:
getting qxdm to see the phone
and
typing correct legacy commands to get the reg id to change to 2004
The only reason ive found to need to change reg id is when the phne keeps reverting back to old towers.
 
assuming you know or have already changed your SPC to six 0's hit ##000000 (or your spc) send it will bring up all of your programming info scroll down to reg id click your "blackberry" button then click edit reg id, change it to 2004. exit save and your good to go
 
All right, well I did the way it was described. It seems like it was done.
I loaded a MetroPCS.prl

So the only way to check if it was flashed is by going to the nearest MetroPCS store?

Sorry, it's my first time flashing a phone.
 
just make a test call 611 see if it takes you to the metro service if it does your good to good, or also on your phone hit #4357* and scroll down to where it says prl version and see if it has the one you loaded,.
 
ok guys. I want to program a sprint 8830 to cricket. I am by no means proficient at these things but I am also no noob. where the frak do I find the PRL files? I am in the philly/NJ area and I get bubkis on my searches!

also I just now noticed my area has the triband symbol!! does this mean I will NOT be able to flash a sprint phone to cricket in this area?

can I flash it for somewhere else (ie with another prl) and have it work here? for example if someone from a non triband area with a cricket phone "CAME" to philly area would there phone work as normal unlimited coverage?

I am finding lots of little bits of info but nothing CLEAR. ie I always see load your prl but "zero" info on how the heck to get that PRL file. I found a thread with PRL's but nothing for the north east.

prl files can be found in the stickies, but no matter what prl you put on the phone, you will be roaming and it wont be worth it. There is NO way around it. Get a Cricket or MetroPCS phone as they are the only providers of Tri-band phones currently.
 
Yeah I know figured that out. Really sucks! I was ecstatic when I found out I could flash my 8830 over and I CAN anywhere except where I live :-) hehe Grrrr

too bad too the 8830 has a fantastic transceiver in it. Just wish it had a damned camera. I got and love the 8330 and its very nice but not quite the same nice feel of the 8830 and just normal reception. None of the exceptional reception abilities of the 8830 got into the 8330
