How to approach a guy that you dont know/havent talked to before?

at leadership camp i saw him everywhere and i think hes the cutest guy ever! but he always had a group of girls around him and i was too shy to approach him. but next week all the schools that attended are going to a bonfire over 400 people so this is my chance! but how do i approach him and start a nice convo. what if he has a girl next to him ahhhhhh :/
