How the hell does Caroline Quintin get work?

I really like her.

Thought she was excellent in both Life Begins and Blue Murder

Not sure about Life of Riley but that's probably more to do with the script writing.

I'm having to endure the God awful girly-girly, man is bad "Life of Reily" which is as funny as a pulled chest muscle and a few things I want to say are:

a) How does Ms Quintin get work? Is she very rich or does she have something on the top bosses at the BBC/ITV?

b) WHY is this commisioned? "Pulling", "Little Miss Joycelyn" and the decentish "TittyTittyBangBang" were cancelled to allow this? At least those were hilarious and show women can beat men at comedy.

This is awful!

Pulling and the other shows you mention were on BBC3 and so not axed to make way for Life of Riley.

If you find it so god-awful don't watch it! Also, I find Caroline Quentin to be great at what she does. Both comedy and drama.

If you count the worRAB in that show, it could be the most in half an hour of television... seriously... if only they could trade a few for a laugh

I like her too, dont think she is a GREAT actress but certainly a good one. She was really good in Life Begins, Blue Murder and was my favourite partner for Alan Davis in the Jonathan Creek series, dont watch Life of Riley so cant comment on that but by all accounts you cant blame CQ solely for all the shows failings.

I think her performances can be a little 'one-note' at times, although Life Begins was a good series.

Life Of Riley is ably continuing the recent tradition of dire, non-funny 'sitcoms' commissioned by the Beeb in recent years.

I think she does comedy rather well - she made me laugh in Kiss Me Kate and in Jonathon Creek (she and Alan Davies had great chemistry) and now in Life of Riley.

Seems a little harsh to single her out, rather than point towarRAB the fact that it's the writing that's not up to scratch. (Unless I'm missreading the end roller; she's got nothing to do with the script.)
Is everyone else in the cast turning in a BAFTA winning performance?

I also enjoyed her work in Jonathan Creek and Footprints in the Snow, but not a fan of the current sitcom. Everyone works on at least one turkey... that seems to be the law of averages.

I think she is GREAT. Loved her in Jonathan Creek, she was brilliant and Life Begins. I too saw Life of Riley last night and was rather disappointed. I have not seen it before so I will give it another go before making any kind of judgement. It has nothing to do with Caroline, it is the script that seems to stink. Not funny at all. I thought perhaps Life of Riley was an old show that was being repeated??? Is it a new production cos Caroline looks enormous in it!!

I agree with the above poster, in that I loved Life Begins, was one of my fave shows at the time - I really looked forward to it every week.

I do agree however that Life Of Reiley is bluddy awful - just formulaic (if that's the right word) BBC comedy, much like My Family (which I also think is total crapola) They're probly just trying to copy that - making tosh that's harmless enough - only trouble is it forgets to be funny!
