How the heck to do I get rid of windows media player?

I had version 10 installed on Windows XP, but the problem I had was I couldn't user the seek slider for any video files.

I tried to install an earlier version 7 & 9 (never had this problem with these versions) but it wouldn't let me. Windows MP was not in add/remove programs and I also clicked "add/remove windows components" and selected windows media player more than once and it just would not get off my computer!

I then deleted all windows media player files from my computer. Now when I try install it, it still says a later version is on my computer and can't install it.

I now have no windows media player and can't even reinstall 10!? It won't let me install windows player 11 either... I mean wtf. Any suggestions on how I can ideally install an earlier version of WMP without having to format?

Your problem stems from deleting windows media player. That's NOT how you remove programs off of a computer! You screwed yourself by doing that. Welcome to reformatting!
