...the microwave? Ok I have an above the range microwave and Sunday night my son and his friends decided to pop a bag of popcorn and the smell is enough to make me wanna get sick. I think it's possible that the microwave is broken considering that we've been cooking things below the recommended time, but now I'm stuck with the nasty smell...any suggestions?

Either lemon or vinegar will remove that odor.

Add a few lemon wedges (squeeze them) into a cup or so of water ... heat that to nearly boiling (about 2 minutes) ... and allow it to sit until cool ... then clean out the microwave.

OR ... heat about one half cup of distilled white vinegar for a minute or so ... allow it to sit until cool, and clean the microwave. At first the vinegar smell is overpowering, but it dissipates quickly, and takes the burnt popcorn smell along with it.

Naw, it comes out. Take a big glass measuring cup, add water and "smell goods" like cinnamon, orange peel, cloves and boil in the microwave for several minutes. You want the micro to be rather wet from the steam. Wipe out carefully...you don't want mold growing in there now. Normally one boiling is fine, two might be necessary.
