How strong should my fishing line be?

I am planning on going for largemouth bass as well as catfish, and am wondering how strong of line I should get. I've heard people talking about how it takes stronger line than just a 4 or 6 lb. test to pull those bass out of the vegetation. Your recommendation? Thanks.

My personal opinion would be to go with a 12-14 pound test line....you shouldn't have any trouble pulling a big bass or cat with this.
