how should the bricks in an arch be shaped (physics q!)?

i have this homework worksheet and i dont really understand what the teacher is said about arches

he said that the 'angle should be perpendicular to the face' on our information sheet but i dont understand what angle this is, and what the face is, can someone please explain it to me :s
