There is a lot to know about fishing besides hitting up your local Bass Pro Shop! Ok, ok…stupid joke! Anyway there has been some changes that has happened to the WoW fishing skill since the game has been released. Some of the stuff is new to me as well!
You must buy the World of Warcraft fishing guide that raises your skill level from 300 to 375 first, of course. It is available from Juno Dufrain at Cenarion Refuge in Zangarmarsh (78,66 coords) and the book itself is called "Master Fishing - The Art of Angling".
One of the first things to remember is in order to get your fishing skill up you need to catch fish. Sounds simple, eh? It practice it really is that simple. Successful catches is what raises your skill level regardless of fishing area.
What that means is you can in practice (if your Horde) fish in Orgrimmar and catch fish until you hit 375 skill level. Now that probably won't be the best thing to do since in other lakes you can catch more exotic fish (which is the reason you are leveling up fishing anyway…).
I have read somewhere that it takes between 675 - 800 successful catches to go from level 300 to 375. That's a lot of fishing! That will take some time but since you have already hit 300 in your World of Warcraft fishing it really shouldn't be that hard for you to stay focused.
Here are a couple of tips to remember when going for 375 quickly.
1.Be sure to get lures and tons of them. Anything that gives you +fishing is going to help you have more successful catches especially at the higher level lakes. Some players even go far enough to have a seperate set of gear just for fishing.
2.Some research about what you can catch at different lakes will help out tremedously. Just fishing for fun or are you fishing to catch a certain type of fish? You might try locating where those type of fish are and level up there. Remember though if you have a lot of failed casts you will probably want to try a lower level lake instead for awhile before going back to the higher spot that have the fish you want.
3.Also, the cooking skill can be your friend here as well. Catch the fish and start a fish fry! This is really killing 2 birds with one stone here as you can easily raise your cooking skill as well as your fishing skill at the same time.
4.It takes time. Catching 675 - 800 fish does take some hours to do so having your favorite music ready will probably be something that will help keep it from getting boring.
These tips might not help us become the next Bill Dance but there will be able to make us generate a lot of gold quickly and become exotic chefs! Besides what a great way to pass the time!
