How old do you think your opp. sex child should be allowed to use public restrooms

alone? Being a mom, how old would your son have to be for you to allow him to use public restrooms alone? We have split custody of our son and my ex-wife allows our 4 year old to use walmart (and other public places) restrooms by himself. Does that sound too young? I am kind of uncomfortable with her letting him do that. Am I way off?
