how often should i wash my makeup brushes?

I use makeup brushes from Sigma
I don't place makeup on everyday in a week
i probably only place it on about 2-3 times a week
-- some people say to wash it once a week (with soap & warm water) but i don't use it everyday in a week... should i still wash it once in a week?

For some brushes should i wash it right after i use them- like foundation brush, eyeshadow brush, etc

please help thanks!
