I just got in new brakes from dealer in april. I take my car in to get oil change and the mechanic tells me I need new brakes. Help......I don't know if the guy is lying or I got ripped-off from dealer and never got brakes in. Even after I got new brakes and rotor ,my brakes were still screeching. What should I do?

My car parked most of the summer. I probably drove once or twice a week commuting to work, which is 5-10 mins. away.

I don't think any garage would cheat with brakes, however any average front brakes for a heavy car is between 25 to 30k's providing is a male drive (use less brakes than female) but that is not the issue if you are driving down town all the time depending on your brakes to slow you might be using more than average so your guide line is the Klm as above and how do you use your brakes?

good luck mate

p.s. I would go back to the dealer and check with them what is the story.

how to check brake pads

easy to do at home and know it and really if they making any type of noise you have gone to far which cost you money and a 03 really should be going to a shop and not a dealership for repairs and how long brake last depends on a few things how one drives where one drives and what type of pads many people replace them at home about 35 bucks most shops charge 100 each end front or rear driving too long wear out brake rotors costing you money and first sign is squealing next is grinding knowing how to check brake pads free just jack car up remove tire can see pads and know or a good guess at how much left knowing that can save you big money dont need to be going dealership now when dealerships are for selling new car an dshops ar for repairing 90% of time dealership will be higher price and many time last place to be want to know make a few phone calls to local shop and ask dealership or phone how much for new brakes i do my own brake jobs as does my wife in our drive way need to check brakes every few months best done while rotating tires or at oil changes say like oil change rotate tire check brake pads dont trust them then go else where any shop wil or can do brakes
