I just purchased a 1998 chevy envoy. I took it for a high mileage oil change yesterday and was told that I need differential plugs. I am getting brake pads on the vehicle and also the service engine soon light comes on. Could there possibly be something wrong with the engine. This is not a flood or damaged truck but it is just old. What do I need to do to make sure that it is maintained. I am new to this, also what are the best kind of tires for this kind of truck and how much do they usually cost. I get my oil changed at Walmart and would also like to get the tires there as well.

You can buy your own code reader to see what yellow check engine light codes are stored in your computer. Just plug it in to the OBD-II connector under your steering wheel and dash.
