How much would you expect to spend converting a Ford 8.8 axle to fit a Jeep?

Something is wrong with my Dana 35 axle on my Jeep Wrangler, it's burned up two sets of 4.56 gears in 3 months and the installer has confirmed with multiple other sources that the installation and break-in period were performed exactly as specified so they don't know what's causing the gears to self-destruct. Both times they fried while I was driving on a highway and had never even been taken off-road. Worst case scenario (or best case depending on how you look at it) is that I now find a Ford 8.8 axle and convert it to fit my Jeep. Keep in mind that I went to tech school to learn to weld and I now work in a machine shop with a very cool boss so I have full access to machining equipment and the ability to easily make my own parts. How much would you expect to spent on the axle itself with 4.56 gears and any other parts necessary for the conversion? I can make very strong spring and control arm mounts in just a matter of a few hours so I won't need to buy anything like that.
