How much would painting a car shell cost?

I'm looking into buying a project car, but something I'd rather leave to the shop is paint. I don't want to paint the car myself and have the engine bay start flaking or something. So my question is, what is a normal quote to paint the shell of the car, I.E. if I take everything out beforehand (motor, seats, windows, etc.)

Thanks.

I know about macco etc. I am somewhat of an enthusiast but I have never built a project car. I'm looking into a 240sx. My last car was an E36 M3. Used the best paint shop in town for my bumper (prep paint w/ out install was $650) So I'm hoping to prep the whole car and get it painted at a DECENT shop for about 1500. I could sand the metal myself, and I'm actually in UT. But thank you for the offer. I have two friends at UTI right now and won't start the build for another 2 years, but when they get home it'll be an awesome car for us to tackle.

u could do it for 800 or u can get a cheap one for like 400 but itl peel away eventually MACCO has an ambasador package that i put on my mustang and it looks great. just be sure to do all the prep work like sanding down the old paint and primer it and all that stuff before you take it to get painted because trust me itl save you quite a bit of money

First, it's good if you strip the car down as much as possible. Second, if you are able to strip the paint by yourself (80grit is a good place to start), it will be much cheaper to get the car painted. If your car is fiberglass, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO STRIP PAINT YOURSELF UNLESS YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE DOING SO! You can mess up the entire body panel(s) if you gouge the fiberglass. If the car is metal, it is easier to sand down.
The actual costs of painting a car can vary on the size, color desired, paint brand used, and any additional labor/material/time/shop fees. If you are in the central florida area, message me at [email protected] and I can direct you to an AWESOME paint/body guy that will give you a VERY good price! Whatever you do, do NOT use MACCO if you want a pretty car. Sure, they're cheap, but their paint is crap and usually fades/chips in a matter of weeks to months. I've even seen cars come out of there with DRIPS AND BUBBLES!!
