Ok, here's the deal: My in laws owned the car, and were told that it was about to throw a rod. It has not thrown a rod yet. Instead of fixing the car, they got another one, and this one has just been sitting in the garage for 9 months. Everything else on the car works fine. The AC unit is brand new and the transmission has recently been replaced. So I bought the car for $100, figuring I could get the engine rebuilt, and if it wasn't worth it, well, I'm only out $100. The problem is, the car is in Charlotte, NC, and I live in Washington D.C. So I'm trying to get a rough estimate of how much something like that would cost before I go down there and start looking for garages to do the work. Since it's gonna throw a rod soon, I don't want to drive it around to a bunch of places. Does anyone know how much I should expect to pay?
