You can get a cheap overall paint job at Maaco for a few hundred dollars. It will look good from 10 feet, but close up it will look like a cheap repaint. You also have a limited range of colors to choose from.

To do a color change right will cost many thousands of dollars.

A good shop will remove all the trim, much of the interior and the engine. They need to paint inside the engine compartment, under the hood, behind the headlights and so on. They should also remove all of the stickers under the hood and in the door frames. Otherwise it will be obvious the car has had a color change.

Once the car is stripped down, you have to sand off the old clear coat and paint. Next step is to get the body perfectly smooth. Repair any small dings and factory imperfections. Black is a tricky color. Any imperfection in the body will show up in the paint big time. If you don't do the prep right, the car will never look great.

Paint the car. Replace everything that came off.

Thats a lot of labor. Good automotive paint isn't cheap. The materials alone could run $1000.

Final price will be $5000 to $10,000 for results that look as good or better than factory.
