How much would it cost to go to Canne for the film festival?

I know you wouldnt be able to see the films but ive heard its common to see the stars out and about in the city during the festival and it does seem like a lovely place. I have also heard that as soon as each festival is over people have already booked their hotels for the following year so what kind of chance do you think someone has of just going as a short holiday break? Is it expensive to go there?
 
yes its very expensive. I went to Nice in 1990 and it still remains the most expensive holiday I have ever has and that was nearly 20 years ago! Cannes was actually quite disappointing. I never went during the film festival though. But it is worth going to Monaco and Monte Carlo which are fantastic. But back on topic I would imagine it would be a rip off to stay in Cannes during the film festival.
 
No disrespect to you but the world has changed in the nearly 20 years since you were there. Ill look into it and see if its possible to stay nearby, see if its cheaper to book your own flights, hotels rather than part of a package.
