how much would cost me to lower my car?

I have a mitsubishi eclipse gst 98, and am thinking about lower it about 1" 1/2 or more, but I was wondering how much would that cost me?
somebody told me to cut the springs, but I dont want to do that. what are my options and how much would it cost?
